Yael Cohen Paran
Yael Cohen Paran is an environmentalist and politician. She is a MK - a member of the Israeli Knesset (Parliament) representing Israel's Green Movement. She was appointed a Voiceless Director in 2008.
Yael completed her Bachelor of Science (Physics) at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, before beginning graduate studies in physics at Ben-Gurion University. While there, Yael worked as a research student at the Solar Energy Centre, the national alternative energy research institute of Israel. She was also the Executive Director of Green Course, an organisation which works to promote education and environmental awareness, from 2002-2006.
Yael is the Founding Director of the Israel Energy Forum – a new initiative to achieve and implement sustainable energy policy in Israel. She has been awarded the IVN Social Entrepreneur Fellowship for the initiative and has taken part in some of the largest international conferences dealing with environmental issues, including: the UN World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in 2002, the UN Forum on Climate Change Convention in Bali, 2007 and in Poznan, 2008.
She joined Voiceless after having worked together with Voiceless Managing Director Ondine Sherman in Israel and brings extensive environmentalist experience to Voiceless.
