Abbie Cornish was raised on her parents' 170 acre farm in the Hunter Valley with her 3 brothers and younger sister. Having grown up with animals she became vegetarian at the age of 13.
Abbie started acting at age 15 and was awarded a Best Actress AFI award, IF award and Film Critics Circle of Australia award in 2004 for her performance in the Australian production Somersault. She is now best known for her roles in Bright Star, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Candy, Limitless, Seven Psychopaths and The Girl.
In 2006 she became a Voiceless Ambassador, and has since been an outspoken advocate for animal protection, taking interviews and supporting Voiceless through her attendance at various events.
