Start a conversation about factory farming
Write a letter to a newspaper, make a call to talk-back radio and discuss your concerns with friends, family and colleagues. Use Facebook and Twitter to spread the word.
Lobby the Ministers
Call on the federal Minister for Agriculture and your state Minister for Primary Industries to give strong legal protections to animals in factory farms and the commercial kangaroo cull. Write a letter or email explaining your views and calling for change, for example banning sow stalls or battery cages.
Contact your MP
Give your local Member of Parliament the facts on factory farming and explain the importance of animal welfare to your vote.
Reduce meat, eggs and dairy
Factory farming is driven by consumer demand for vast amounts of meat and animal products. If everyone went meat-free for a couple of days a week, we’d make a positive difference to the lives of many animals.
Buy cruelty-free
Learn about where your food comes from and how it was produced. If the label doesn’t say otherwise, you can assume that the product was factory farmed. If in doubt, ask your retailer or the manufacturer.
Volunteer and give pro-bono
Whether you volunteer for a grassroots body or donate your professional services to Voiceless, your time and expertise are invaluable gifts to animals.
Make a complaint
If you see or hear an advertisement about a factory farmed product, and you think it is misleading or deceptive, complain to the Advertising Standards Bureau.
Pressure food companies
Contact food producers, fast food companies and supermarkets that help sustain animal suffering in Australia. Clearly state the animal protection issues that you are concerned about and encourage them to follow positive international reforms.
Help us help them
Voiceless is working with government, industry groups and retailers to end the cruelty of factory farms and the kangaroo industry. As an independent charity, we rely entirely on the generosity of compassionate Australians like you.
