Animal cruelty complaints witnessed in New South Wales should be reported to the:
The Animal Welfare Unit within the New South Wales Department of Primary Industriesis responsible for administering the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1979 (NSW). It does not have powers of enforcement under the Act; however it has a useful webpage addressing complaints regarding cruelty to animals in New South Wales. If your complaint concerns the treatment of an animal used for scientific or teaching purposes (including animals held in a holding or breeding facility for laboratory animals) under the Animal Research Act 1985 (NSW), your complaint should be directed to the Animal Welfare Unit's Inspectorial Office.
