Compassion in the Boardoom- coming soon to your office!

Australia has a substantial legal framework aimed at governing the behaviour of its corporations; however what happens when those laws fall short of what is fair, just or ethical? Is it good enough to do what the law says or should corporations be taking the lead and responding to changing social values?

In this seminar, Brian Sherman AM, Managing Director of Voiceless, the animal protection institute, will draw on his experience as a leading Sydney businessman and philanthropist to explore ways in which animals can be given a voice at the boardroom table.

Katrina Sharman, Corporate Counsel of Voiceless, will examine the legal framework that has institutionalised the suffering of animals in Australia and demonstrate how corporates from a range of industries can exercise leadership in animal welfare in the absence of meaningful legal change.

The presenters will highlight trends towards animal-friendly production and socially responsible investments. Examples of activities that a range of corporates can undertake in the field of animal protection will also be explored.

Please follow this link for information about the presenters.
