Not every dog has his day: the treatment of dogs in Australia Print E-mail

Duckworth investigates the treatment of man’s best friend in her new book.

Animal protection is fast becoming one of the most important issues in society. The public is now, more than ever, aware of the impact that human actions have on the lives of non-human animals.

In her new book Not every dog has his day: the treatment of dogs in Australia, (Axiom Creative Enterprises, 2009), Jane Duckworth addresses several key issues of canine care from an analysis of dogs and their roles in Australia to describing the attitudes of society towards man’s best friend.   Jane describes various animal care scenarios, and then in great detail, every area in which dogs are ‘used’ including working dogs, the scientific arena, feral dogs, and greyhound racing.  She also describes some of the challenges faced by those fighting cruelty to canines.

Duckworth’s book provides a detailed, quality analysis of dogs in Australia. Copies are available at www.doghorsewelfare.com.au
