ABC’s Airlie Ward announced as inaugural Voiceless Media Prize winner at the “Oscars of Animal Protection”
ABC Stateline Tasmania’s Airlie Ward scooped the inaugural Voiceless Media Prize at Monday night’s red-carpet Voiceless Awards Event, where the glitterati gathered to celebrate the achievements of the animal protection movement.
Last night the Honourable Justice Ruth McColl AO, Judge of Appeal of the Supreme Court of NSW, launched the Voiceless Animal Law Toolkit. The launch was part of the Voiceless 2009 Awards Event, where this year’s Voiceless Grant recipients and inaugural Voiceless Media Prize winner were announced.
Brian Sherman AM, Director of Voiceless, the animal protection institute, today called upon the NSW Government to reject a deal with the Shooters’ Party which would open up 13 national parks to recreational hunters in return for ongoing support in the upper house.
Nominations opened today for the $5,000 Voiceless Media Prize which will recognise the most valuable contribution in the media towards debate on the treatment of animals.

Voiceless, the animal protection think tank, applauds reported moves by supermarket chain Woolworths to reduce the number of caged egg brands, including its ‘Woolworths Select’ brand, and to separate its eggs more clearly.
