Timothy Gorski, Director – Rattle the Cage Productions - This grant has been given to Timothy Gorski as an award for his film, ‘Lolita – A Slave to Entertainment’. The film addresses the cruel practice of capturing and confining wild marine mammals so as to make use of them for human entertainment. This is an issue of international concern and is equally relevant for Australian audiences as it is for those in the United States.

Animal Liberation NSW – The Voiceless grant will support the ongoing maintenance of the mobile video education van, funded by Voiceless in 2004. This will allow the education program to expand into rural areas throughout NSW, in addition to the ongoing educational efforts in metropolitan Sydney.

Michelle Read-Zorn, NSW – The grant from Voiceless will enable a humane education educator’s website & network to be created. The website and network will provide teachers and parents with resources and assistance for educating students about animal protection issues.

Coomalie Community Government Council, NT – The Voiceless grant will support an animal awareness campaign in the region targeting schools, tertiary students & the general public.  The campaign aims to raise awareness of the need to care for all animals and provide practical advice and strategies for the care of both domestic and native animals. The program will be conducted over a 6-week period in a series of workshops.  (A portion of this grant has been generously provided by Project Rosie)

Compassion in World Farming, VIC – The grant from Voiceless will enable the Australian arm of Compassion in World Farming to provide teacher support material to the DVD ‘Farm Animals & Us in Australia’ (funded by Voiceless in the 2004 grants program).  The aim is to increase self-sufficiency of the use of the DVD in the classroom.  Three curriculum units, using the DVD as a focus, will be developed as supplemental material.

Dr. Barry Spurr, NSW – The funds from the Voiceless grant will contribute to a campaign aiming to change attitudes & increase awareness of animals used for entertainment, primarily circuses, and to encourage the public to lobby their Councillors for a ban.  The principal objective is to achieve a state-wide ban on circuses using animals, by first achieving city bans throughout NSW.

Student Youth Network, VIC – The Voiceless grant will enable the commissioning of young radio makers to engage & educate a broad audience, particularly youth, by using community media.  A series of radio documentaries and community service announcements based on animal protection issues will be broadcast nationally on the community radio satellite.  Regular on-air interviews & segments, promoting animal protection issues will also be broadcast.
