Edgar’s Mission, VIC – Through the grants program, Voiceless will support Alice the pig, at Edgar’s Mission.  The sanctuary provides homes for unwanted and abused farm animals, particularly pigs.  The sanctuary serves to educate people about intensive farming. Alice was a former factory farm pig and more recently starred in the upcoming movie Charlotte’s Web.  Voiceless sponsor, Bio-Distributors, will also assist Edgar’s Mission by funding a ‘Kindness Trail’ – an educational, interactive walk through the sanctuary.

Central Queensland University, QLD – Voiceless will support the development of a resource kit by Central Queensland University, addressing the deliberate harm of animals by children.  This will be distributed to key stakeholders, including child protection agencies, educators and animal protection agencies.  The kit is intended to increase awareness of the implications of deliberate cruelty to animals and act as an intervention into the cycle of cruelty.

Wildlife Warriors Worldwide, QLD
– The Voiceless grant will contribute to the introduction of legislation in Queensland for ‘spotter catchers’ to be used for all land clearing/development. Spotter catchers provide reports on potential harm to wildlife, recommend actions to protect and when appropriate relocate animals. Spotter catcher legislation will ensure that the impact of land clearing on all wildlife, not just endangered, will be minimised.

Griffith University, QLD - The funds from the Voiceless grant will support a pilot project and research phase, of "Learning to Care, Education for Compassion".  This will be trialled in Australian schools, to establish what current knowledge and attitudes exist amongst Australian children, teenagers and teachers towards animal ethics issues, so as to justify and inform the development of the school curriculum units. The program will provide teachers knowledge, methods & vision for helping students to develop compassion for animals.  The program addresses the lack of teacher materials, teacher knowledge & lack of values in the education system. (This project has been generously sponsored by Morinda Australia Pty Ltd.)

Yugul Mangi Community Government Council, NT – The Voiceless grant will assist the Yugul Mangi Community Government Council, in South East Arnhem Land, to develop a comprehensive training program for the proper care of dogs in Aboriginal communities such as Ngukurr. A video/DVD will be produced and will be broadcast at multiple time slots over a three month period.  A local vet & community members will be assisting in the community education program. (This project has been generously supported by The Body Shop
