Holland Park State Primary School - 8th April 2008
The Holland Park State Primary School Animal Club has come up with a new song to raise awareness about the plight of mother pigs kept in sow stalls.
The lyrics from the first verse follow and those of us who have seen them, think they are quite spectacular:
The song is titled: A SOW IS A MOTHER TOO! … PLEASE, DON’T FENCE HER IN!
When you think of a pig you might say she’s dirty as… We’ve got news for you!
When you think of a pig you might say she’s stupid as…
We’ve got news for you!
When you think of a pig you might say she’s lazy
But in fact she’s clean ‘n’ smart ‘n’ loves her babies
She’s a sow.
Free her now!
She’s going crazy…
DON’T FENCE HER IN
Pedare Christian College Middle School - Term 1 2008
Dear Animal Club,
We would like to share the activities we have done in the Pedare Eco Force.
The first thing we have done is the Orangutan Project. We invited a guest speaker to talk to us about the endangered species of the orangutang. We had tins to put in our class to donate money to the orangutan project. We could also buy things from the guest speaker.

The next thing we did was recycling boxes. We got recycled boxes and decorated them so they were bright and colourful. We are going to make one for every class. This will help save trees and birds homes.
Also, in the last week of term 1, we went down to the Port River and went on the dolphin cruise where we saw lots of dolphins. One of us adopted a dolphin from the Port River called Sparkle. We have also bought a toy dolphin as our mascot and we called her Flippa. Our teacher, Mr DeBoer, wrote a song about the Port River dolphins that is really good!

Michaela, Rachael, Tania and Zoe.
