One of Australia's most successful business leaders, Brian Sherman, will be the first featured speaker at this year's North Shore Temple Emanuel "Speak My Mind" series on Sunday, March 26.

His topic, not typical for a boardroom, is Voice of the Voiceless, focusing on animal rights and the humane treatment of animals.

Mr Sherman, the founding chairman and managing director of the EquitiLink Group and a director of the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (SOCOG), is now director of several listed investment companies in the USA, Canada and Australia.Brian Sherman with Zara

He is a passionate animal rights advocate.

Mr Sherman and his daughter Ondine set up "Voiceless: the fund for animals",  an organisation dedicated to the humane treatment of animals.

One of the organisation's main concerns is factory farming in piggeries, where pigs are confined to tiny stalls for their entire lives.  Mr Sherman says it is too easy to turn a blind eye to the conditions endured by the 550 million cows, pigs and chickens in Australia.

Find out what led this very successful businessman to become aware of the issue and why he has decided to take action over his concern for animals.

The talk will be at the North Shore Temple Emanuel, Chatswood, on Sunday, March 26, at 7.30pm. It is being presented by Jews for Social Action. $5 donation, free for students. Light supper provided.
