Note from Ondine Sherman, Voiceless.'This article does not reflect the enormous amount of respect that I have for the advocates who have dedicated their lives to the cause animal protection. Those working in this area live with this 'traumatic knowledge' on a daily basis. However, I do believe that our emotions can help us make greater inroads: in order to make significant changes in the way our society treats animals, we must appeal to peoples' hearts rather than their minds.'
