More than 50 million South Australian farm animals will continue to be subjected to cruel and inhumane treatment if amendments to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Animal Welfare) Amendment Bill 2006 (SA) are passed into legislation claimed Voiceless, the fund for animals, today. 

An unprecedented national advertising campaign launched this week will forefront the plight of factory farmed pigs in Australia.

Using confronting visuals and graphic text the campaign will ask the Australian public to face the truth about factory farming and to change their buying habits to give pigs a better life.

Three research scientists from the University of New South Wales, have won the 2006 Voiceless Eureka Prize for Research which Replaces the use of Animals or Animal Products. The award was part of the Australian Museum’s annual Eureka Prize night, commonly referred to as the ‘Oscars’ of the scientific world.
